From the moment we stepped in, the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and affection. The Temari inn impresses with its blend of modern touches on an Edo‑era building, where old‑world charm meets contemporary style. The neighborhood itself turned out to be a real highlight of our Japan trip. No complaints.

The hotel had no obvious sign, so finding it was a little tricky at first. Still, the staff were very enthusiastic and the service was thorough, which felt very friendly. The location is in a lively area, bustling during the day and surprisingly quiet and comfortable at night. Overall, it’s a charming place that’s great for soaking in the town at a relaxed pace. The main drawbacks were privacy, water facilities, and the price. The hotel is two stories, with the bathroom and toilet on the ground floor, and you pass through a corridor that the staff can also walk through, so it feels more like a semi‑open space. Especially at night when you shower, the front door is made of clear glass, so if someone walks by outside it can feel a bit lacking in privacy. Also, there was no other water dispenser in the room; upon check‑in they gave a pot of barley tea and a pot of plain water, but after that you have to bring your own drinking water, which is a bit inconvenient. Finally, regarding the room rate, the hotel does not include breakfast or other comprehensive add‑ons, and compared to nearby accommodations the price feels slightly high.

Staying in the upper floor of a historic house that’s been lovingly converted into comfortable lodging was a unique experience. The furnishings come from local artisans, and the street where the inn sits becomes very quiet at night. There are many quiet eateries in the historic neighborhood. No complaints.

If you’re in Kurashiki, this place will stay with you long after you leave. The room was beautiful and spacious, with welcome drinks and snacks ready for us when we arrived. It sits in the heart of the historic district, making it perfect for exploring the area. The real highlight was the staff: they were incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive, with countless thoughtful gestures that made us feel like family. Their genuine hospitality made our stay truly unforgettable. Undoubtedly, this was the best accommodation experience of our entire trip to Japan. We can’t recommend it highly enough! Thank you! Grace and David. Wish we had stayed longer.
