Nothing good. Everything was terrible: no hot water, the futon smelled moldy and I couldn’t sleep, the room’s fusuma were covered in mildew, and when I woke up my throat was badly sore. I will never stay here again.

The staff were courteous and the price was low. The place is a renovated old house run by students, so I understand there may be issues, but a few things bothered me: the garden needs pruning, the back entrance and outside could be tidier, the early‑morning checkout required walking through the messy back yard, and the tatami in the room had stains or mildew.

The room I stayed in had a burnt‑tatami smell that was unpleasant, and the rental towels and sheets had a damp, stale odor. The grass was overgrown and hard to get outside, yet the staff were friendly.

The welcoming service and the chance to chat with other guests made this a cozy spot. I was there just to sleep before a marathon the next day, and it felt wasteful not to experience more of the hotel’s charms. Thanks for all the thoughtful touches.
