The location and the friendliness of the staff were good. The rugs in the rooms were a problem, and the rooms were very small. Despite the charm of the ancestral inn, it could use a renovation.

It felt like a B&B even though it was a hotel. The property was older and in a traditional style. The staff were friendly. It was convenient to the town of Knowlton and only 1.5 hours from Montreal. It’s nice if you’re a Louise Penny fan because parts of the town inspired her books. It was close to the nearby Abbey, which is worth visiting. The place is called Lakeview but there is no view of the lake; the property is set back too far and the trees block the view. The bathroom was very small and the sink was outside the bathroom.

The staff were very welcoming; I must especially mention the young man Jacob who was very attentive to our requests and proactive in offering the hotel’s services, in our case dinner. He is an employee the management should keep.

This isn’t my type of hotel—dark and full of carpets.

The location was good, the bedding was perfect, and the owner was very kind. The room was small and the bathroom very tiny. The breakfast wasn’t great; the food didn’t seem fresh.
