I stayed to relax in Naples at La Strettola. It was very comfortable and convenient, right in the city center, 10‑15 minutes walk from Garibaldi Square and the main station. Some had said the room was scary at night, but I returned calmly, felt no threat. The room had everything for a summer stay: AC, fridge, balcony, bathroom. The bed was comfy. I enjoyed spending time there and returning after a busy day in the city.

The host was friendly; when the elevator broke she carried my heavy bag up to the room and let me check out late. The room was modern enough and had a small terrace, though it was too hot to use. It sat at the end of a dark, filthy, run‑down street with few people around – I only saw one rat and avoided going out after dark. The linens and towels weren’t washed properly; I wondered if soap was even used. The bed, pillows, sheets, and common area all had a bad smell.

It’s close to the station, handy for a one‑night stop with no high expectations, useful for getting around the city or if you’re just passing through. The room was quiet. The building is ugly and dirty, and the approach road is rough and uncomfortable. Dog poop in front of the gate, the doorman went back and forth but never took a bucket to clean it, so a pizza box with sauce sat for two days on the bin next to his post. The welcome was unprofessional – hospitality is a job many do now for profit, converting apartments into tourist lodgings, but to me it lacks a sense of profession. The girl who welcomed me didn’t even know when payment was due, couldn’t find the reservation. I paid after seeing the price in my email, then after three hours she sent a WhatsApp message saying I owed 5 euros. That WhatsApp thing is depressing.
