The stay was flawless.

The spot was spot‑on, the hotel looked classy, and finding it was a breeze; but the bed was uncomfortable, other guests made noise, the room had dirt around the windows, and some updates were overdue.

The hotel had a charming rural English feel, was very quiet, and the English breakfast was generous; however, a pressure pump in the room made a terrible noise when it kicked in, the bathroom was old but clean, and the continental breakfast felt a bit sparse.

Overall quiet, yet the rooms suffered from missing light bulbs, loose taps, a toilet that rattled on the wall, and a general lack of proper upkeep.

The setting was ideal and the lobby had a certain charm, but the hotel’s past attention to detail was absent: no milk for early tea, missing bath and shower mats, no bathroom ventilation because the window wouldn’t open, a disappointing evening meal, ancient and wobbly breakfast room furniture, a ceiling net clogged with dead flies, closed windows and buckled blinds on a hot day, poor breakfast quality and service, guests had to toast their own bread which felt unhygienic, a messy buffet bar, and overall a far worse experience than in previous years.
