The accommodation matched the description exactly, nothing more or less, and everything was clean. It was a bit hard to find because I didn’t have a route to the exact location and the information wasn’t clear. After a call with the company, it became clear quickly. Tip: just send a map with the check‑in. The description covered the parking spot, then? How to proceed? Access works via a gate, which was not arranged. It actually works with a phone number that was broken, and the gate had to be opened with a chip that was in the accommodation. That info would have been helpful. And how do you get onto the premises at check‑in? And how do you leave after check‑out? Unfortunately, no plan was made and I don’t get a response to a message. Also there was no hot water for showering, and no response there either.

Top location, neat neighbors, very good atmosphere. A fly screen or net in front of the windows would be advisable by the water.

Nothing positive. The contact phone number listed was unreachable. As it turned out later, “Frank” no longer worked for the company. We only found the site by chance, where someone else helped us. Later we discovered that was the successor. He was very helpful but spoke little English, so everything had to go through Google Translate, which made things harder. The houseboat is extremely small for two people; the bed width was only 1.20 m. Those who use the sofa have no bedding. No wardrobe for luggage. Two nails were driven into the wall, with a few hangers attached. On the dining table, a microwave occupies half the table, so you can’t eat properly. The chair for the second person sits right next to the steering wheel, so you can’t sit properly. No hot water.

The place is easily reachable from Amsterdam Centraal by bus, it’s very calm and unique. Sleeping on a marina boat is a special experience, a bit far from the crowded Amsterdam. Monnickendam is a cute small town, not far from the also cute Marken, Vollendam and Edam – definitely worth a day dedicated to this tour (we took the boat between Marken and Vollendam). The place is quite tiny for four people; a bit more equipment would be nice, for example there are only two chairs. Two additional folding chairs would be nice. The kitchen equipment is very basic, it’s nice to have the possibility to cook, but don’t plan for complex meals. What could be nice to add: a sieve to help cooking pasta, more glasses, a bowl for salad.

The spot in the Marina is pretty good, and the terrace décor matches the photos. However, there were many housekeeping issues: no cold water, then no hot water, then no flush. Repairs never worked, so I had to use the Marina’s facilities. Wi‑Fi was absent because the boat was too far from the signal, and the extra bed lacked sheets and towels. I ended up paying for a room that was only meant for two people.
