“Disappointing Stay – Basic Room Standards Were Not Met”
The place was clean, but I was deeply disappointed with my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Oakville. The beds were among the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in, and a decent bed is a basic expectation when you pay for a hotel room, especially at a Hilton. When we arrived, the room temperature was set to 13 °C (55 °F) while the outside was about 25 °C, which felt excessive and wasteful. The room was uncomfortably cold upon entry. The bar fridge was malfunctioning, freezing everything instead of keeping a normal temperature. We reported this to the front desk during our stay, but nothing was fixed. As a result, medication we stored in the fridge froze and was ruined, which is particularly concerning because we had already warned the hotel about the fridge issue. When I book a Hilton and pay for a two‑night stay, I expect the basic room amenities to be clean, comfortable, and fully functional—reasonable expectations, not a high standard. Overall, this stay fell well below the standard I expect from Hilton, and I hope the hotel takes these concerns seriously so future guests don’t experience the same problems.
