The orange juice at breakfast was probably freshly squeezed or straight, and it made me feel happy from the start; it even made me want to stay again. The face pack in the amenities was surprisingly good. No complaints.

The view from the bed was lovely 😊, and for one night it was completely fine. As some others have mentioned, it has gotten a bit worn over the years. There is a step about 20 cm to the bathroom that can be a bit dangerous at night.

The location right next to the Hiroto river estuary and a short walk from Gion shrine is fantastic; the room is simple yet artistic, the entry hall is bright and welcoming with friendly staff, and both the Japanese‑style breakfast and dinner are excellent.

There’s a restaurant nearby that uses local ingredients, which was a plus, but I wish there had been a bathtub outside the guestroom.
