“Historical, luxurious ,discovery”
The location is gorgeous, and during the day it’s filled with tourists—cruise ships even mention it—yet once it quiets down you can really soak up Mdina’s history and beauty. We enjoyed an excellent private walking tour with the guide Raphael, whose passion for history and deep knowledge were appreciated. The staff were very helpful, and the place’s location is wonderful. Every moment was loved, and the dinner at De Mondian was superb; we were delighted to discover Maltese bubbly as well as white and red wines. The Trattoria downstairs is very good overall, the manager is friendly, but the service pace needs better organization—whether it’s slow when not busy or slow when it is busy. Another point: with many tourists coming just for food and drinks, it would help to have a sign reminding guests that using mobile phones on speaker is rude to others; we experienced a loud guest with his phone on speaker during his meal, and he wasn’t alone. Staff should address this as it ruins the experience for everyone else. It’s a beautiful and relaxed place, and I hope it keeps its charm.
