La Corte Dei Pastori occupies a historic Sasso Caveoso building, one of Matera’s oldest cave dwellings, and offers a panoramic terrace with free Wi‑Fi. Air‑conditioned rooms feature wrought‑iron beds, stone floors, flat‑screen TVs, private bathrooms, complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. Guests enjoy sweet and savoury breakfast in a dedicated dining room. A bus stop lies 100 m away, and Via Ridola is a five‑minute walk.

Tiziana and Domenico were very welcoming, assisted with walking tours and local spots; the rooms sit below a stunning rock church, creating historic awe. The Panorama Room offered spectacular Sassi views from dawn to dusk. Plenty of space to unwind and a handy kitchen. Breakfast was superb, especially the bruschetta and the best cappuccino; Tiziana, a ceramics artist, shows her work. Loved everything!

The location is perfect and the view unbeatable. The room was huge, tastefully furnished, and nicely separated into sleeping and living areas. The bathroom had a floor‑level walk‑in shower and plenty of cozy towels – perfect. Breakfast was very tasty and varied, and the hosts were very warm. We'd book there anytime again.

The location and breakfasts were phenomenal; the view from our window was undoubtedly the best in Matera, and we loved taking so many photos of this beautiful place. A perfect end to a wonderful trip.
