The location was superb, right in the heart of La Rochelle, and the property itself is a stunning museum filled with Asian artifacts. The hosts were fantastic and gave us a guided tour of the beautiful property and its history.

A historic spot right in La Rochelle’s center, this private museum offers a unique, engaging experience with fascinating exhibits. The old building, lovingly restored by owners Michel & Beyrose, feels charming and welcoming, and our room, Les Indes, was spacious, colorful, and comfortable with a garden view. A short stroll brings you to port bars and restaurants, and the drive to Ile de Ré is easy. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, and parking was arranged by the hosts in a secure underground lot for €30 over two nights. No complaints at all!

Everything was perfect! The garden is a true delight, and the venue itself is a museum hotel. We stayed during the Heritage Days and attended a one‑hour talk on the hotel’s history and La Rochelle’s links to India, China, and Japan. The residence is close to all attractions yet remarkably quiet—no noise at night!

The Indes Residence is sublime; every room and living area is adorned with art objects and works. The owners are charming and warm. Everything is perfect—a truly beautiful experience.

Very good, but the penthouse was quite low and a bit uncomfortable. The main issue: the penthouse is too low.
