Located on Praia dos Cavaleiros beach in Macaé, the 4-star Royal Macaé Palace Hotel features modern rooms with contemporary furnishings, LCD TVs, and en-suite bathrooms. Some rooms offer a seating area or balcony. The hotel serves a buffet breakfast with tropical fruits and fresh breads, and offers local and international cuisine for lunch and dinner, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. A rooftop pool and gym are also available.

The only thing to praise this time was the location. The hotel seems to have outlived its glory days; the only positive aspect is the breakfast staff. Otherwise, everything was. the towels were old and stiff, the corridor was always noisy from other guests or staff who seemed unconcerned about the noise level, room‑service control and traceability were poor (they sent me an order I hadn't requested, which was later refunded). To end, if you choose this hotel, know that it’s heavily used by companies to host offshore workers before departure, and the civility of some of them is awful. I had the displeasure of entering the elevator with my wife and finding an ill‑mannered, shirtless man who looked like he'd just come out of a sauna.

Everything was very good and varied; I’m on a diet, but if I wasn’t, it would have been perfect – everything was well prepared. All was fine.
