Nice place. Be careful because when I left for the city, someone took advantage of the locked room to steal 2000 pesos. It’s not a pleasant feeling to know someone entered your room.

“Spacious apartment with nice view of the lagoon”

Clean, spacious room with a great view of the Bacalar Lagoon from the balcony. The kitchen was well stocked (though it could use a cutting board). The door to the kitchen could be closed, which kept the fridge noise out of the bedroom (highly appreciated). There was also access to the lagoon for swimming and hanging out. Nice and friendly owner. Would stay there again. It was a bit hard to find: get off the highway right north of Bacalar at "MÍA Bacalar Luxury Resort & Spa" or "Rancho Encantado". Both are connected to a small dirt road, running along the highway, where you'll find Rancho San Fernando (close to the north end of the small dirt road). Or simply search for "Rancho San Fernando" on Google Maps ("San Fernando" didn’t bring up any usable results for us). The short dirt road is a bit adventurous but was doable with our normal rental car.

A charming spot with a private jetty, a spacious room and a breathtaking view, but the road to get there is poorly maintained and you have to drive into town for meals.

The location is tucked away from the city, with a jetty overlooking the lagoon, yet overall the property feels neglected – bird droppings, litter, unkempt garden, and a room that needs updating; the road and signage also need improvement, but these fixes are modest and would turn the place into a small gem.

The view is fantastic – thank you! The only thing I’d improve is the Wi‑Fi.
