Great place, fantastic food, not the cheapest but generous portions and super quality. Location is top notch and way off the beaten path. Roads at night not for the faint‑hearted! Room was good, albeit a little "claustrophobic".facilities all you need. Would definitely go again for sure. Some parts of the room could have done with a bit of a better clean.

The Barrel Inn turns out to be a superb place to stay; its location is fantastic with stunning views all around, and it’s conveniently positioned to reach a variety of spots. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is very good—especially the breakfast—and the bed was comfortable with a spacious en‑suite. Parking is good and safe, so I highly recommend it. The bedrooms are a bit bijou, which is fine for a few days but could feel cramped if you stay a week or longer. Likewise, while the food is excellent, the menu is only interesting for a week; after that you’ll end up eating the same thing again.

A real gem perched high in the Derbyshire hills, it’s quiet, offers excellent views, and serves very good food. Hard to find fault with it.

Great location and a comfy room with great views from the pub, plus good food. The room was very noisy—the kitchen noise was ridiculous, and music was blaring during service! Beer selection was limited.
