Hotel Schlossberg

“Insgesamt in die Jahre gekommen, doch man bemüht sich.”

I slept well on the good bed, the room stayed tidy, and breakfast was decent; the staff were friendly. The TV channel list (satellite) would have been useful, parking was tight and the driveway was very narrow, and someone used a vacuum on the side table while we ate breakfast.

“für eine Nacht ok, aber mehr nicht.”

The location is great, right by the train station and only a few minutes on foot to the old town. Unfortunately the building is currently being renovated, with construction materials everywhere—laminate, baseboards, etc.—and the private rooms, visible through open doors, were in a mess. The coffee was poor, but the staff were helpful and courteous; overall it was a very dirty hotel.

We were given a room on the top floor at the back of the station, which made it quieter; the breakfast buffet was diverse with a large tea selection and fresh eggs on request. Walking to the old town is convenient and the price‑to‑value is good, plus free parking at the hotel. The hotel looks old; the room was dusty, the mattresses had stains, cracks, and the bed creaked; the drains ran sluggishly. Other guests could be heard loudly, especially when doors were shut, and the carpet in the stairwell was filthy. Luckily there were no carpets in the room.

“Für eine Übernachtung während einer mehrtägigen Wanderung empfehlenswert”

The breakfast was fine, but the dining area was not.

“Aufenthalt war schön und zweckmäßig, Personal sehr nett.”

Breakfast was modest but sufficient, and the hotel is a good base for day trips because of its proximity to the train station. At night, traffic from the station and people walking past made it noisy; you have to keep the windows shut to sleep quietly.
