“Good hotel. Just expect to pay extra for everything.”

The hotel looks amazing, its location is great, the pool and beach are beautiful, and there are plenty of staff. However, the gym, parking, sitting out on the pier, and reserved cabanas for rooms that don’t have occupants all cost extra. You get 1 GB a day on Wi‑Fi, and higher speeds or more data cost more. The TV is small and doesn’t offer streaming. When we mentioned we were on our honeymoon, the staff seemed indifferent and didn’t even say “congratulations.”

The hotel is a grand establishment in terms of size and upkeep. Its location is extraordinary, and the décor resembles a “Gelsenkirchen Baroque” from the 1970s, kept in excellent condition. The entire massive property feels perfectly organized, especially to appeal to American tour groups. Individual travelers might miss personal touches in the staff and the huge dining halls; it feels impersonal. Breakfast is a well‑organized mass meal with only conventional choices. Perhaps the location and the almost flawlessly run hotel machinery justify the price, but for guests who want to see Europe in ten days or seek a hotel with soul, personality, and style, there are better options at this price.
