The breakfast and the food at the event were good to very good, the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. The annex building does not live up to the restaurant at all, as if it doesn’t belong; the price for rooms there is far too high. The bathroom smelled musty to moldy and the exhaust fan didn’t work, so the odor lingered in the room. The carpets were stained and old, and the doors hung so high that you could see light and conversations from the hallway through the gap, and vice versa.

The hotel is very centrally located near the highways, the room was quiet and clean, the staff were very friendly, and there were plenty of parking spaces; everything was fine.

There was a sauna, but I’m rating the penultimate stay because it tells the whole story. I arrived around 19:00 on a very hot day and the front desk told me there was no water due to a pipe burst. It was supposed to be fixed by 18:00, yet a new leak pushed the work out to 22:00. They clearly knew guests couldn’t shower and didn’t warn us, apparently just to keep the money coming. I stayed hoping to use the showers after 22:00, but by 23‑24:00 nothing was fixed. I had to drink bottled water just to survive and they didn’t even offer free water, wet wipes, etc. No compensation, no free breakfast, nothing. It was outrageous. Water finally appeared in the morning. I hope they take this seriously; I’ll avoid this hotel even though I travel there often for work.

I booked a room to celebrate a friend’s birthday in Braunschweig, and it fit my needs perfectly: a nice room, a quiet location, and friendly staff. The only downside was that other guests were a bit noisy at night, but that’s not the hotel’s fault.
