The welcome sign says "Herzlich Willkommen" over and over again, but you don't need a sign because once you step into the courtyard you already feel the warm welcome.

The beds and the breakfast were good. We had been looking forward to staying at the Literatuurhuis, a lodging full of books where you can get lost among the woods. Frankly, it was a bit disappointing. The room faced a road with noisy traffic from 4:30 am. In the beautiful living area we could only sit during breakfast, because the owner said it wasn’t a hotel. The other book room was reserved for dogs and only accessible in winter. I could sit outside on wet tables or in a school‑style kitchen upstairs. Everywhere there were papers with rules and even a note that charges would be added for damage, so we couldn’t enjoy a carefree holiday. It was a shame. From other responses to reviews it seems the owners like to have the final word, and I expect a rebuttal to this review as well.

The accommodation was very beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. Breakfast was lovingly prepared and the hosts were very nice and warm. We received great tips, and the many books were especially interesting. The outside staircase is sturdy and poses no problem. We felt completely comfortable and would gladly return.

The only good thing was the location. When we arrived to check in it was dark; we couldn’t even see the hotel building properly and no lights were on. The stairs to our upstairs room were dangerous, especially with a suitcase or large bag, and they were meant for emergency use only but were used normally. The building is about 100 years old and the bed was uncomfortable. I had a very bad experience and will never come back.
