The place is conveniently located near the centre of Merano and offers a beautiful view of the mountains. The swimming pool is reasonably large, comfortable, and refreshing. The staff are helpful and kind. The room we received was big and comfortable. The hotel lacks some modern amenities you might expect, though they were not advertised in the offer: there is no lift, no AC or fan in the room (which can get uncomfortably hot), and no fridge to keep cold drinks or refreshments. I’m not listing these as criticisms, just that people booking at Pension Planta should be aware.
