The inn sits close to the train station in Porumbacu de Jos, which is handy when traveling by rail, yet it’s far enough from the busy highway. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful, even taking us to Porumbacu de Sus before we headed into the Fogaras Mountains, saving us several hours of walking on the road. The only downside was the faint hiss from the automatic air freshener in the bathroom, a minor annoyance that could be improved.

We had great communication with the owners, parked our two motorcycles on the property’s lot, found everything we needed, enjoyed a superb bed in a quiet area, and liked the pleasant evening lounge area.

The location is decent, a little accessible from the main road between Sibiu and Brașov, and Google Maps pointed me straight to the entrance. The hosts are very kind and helpful with any issues, and despite staying at the same spot, they weren’t intrusive. The room’s equipment is “basic” but enough for a short stay; the heating and hot/cold water are fine. Access requires crossing the main yard, a metal gate, then entering the building with the guest rooms; the staircase to the rooms is steep, making it hard for people with mobility issues or small children. The bed linen has a strong balms scent. The only window opens from the roof, which is slanted, and there are no blinds, curtains or other light protection. The phrase “private kitchen” actually means it isn’t used by the hosts; it’s the only shared kitchen for guests, along with the coffee maker and other utensils.
