“Exquisite. This will be my nest for annual pilgrims to Kyoto.”
This is the first time I’ve stayed in a room as spacious as this in Japan. The hotel sits right next to Nijo JR station, so with a JR Rail Pass I barely spend money traveling to Kyoto Station, Uji, Nara, Kobe, or Osaka. It looks more like a residence than a hotel, which is exactly what I need; I feel like I’m living in Kyoto rather than just visiting. The nearby BIVI shopping complex has almost everything you’d need for a Japan tour at civilian prices: food, milk tea, unique gifts (tax‑free at the bookstore), clothes. Takagi supermarket offers affordable meals and a glimpse of local life. I can also walk to Sanjo Shopping Street in just 5 minutes, buy medicine at Sugi Drug (open until 11 pm) or Dacs (open until 12 am), or grab a quick bite at Nakau (open until 3 am). I have no complaints; the price is too good for the value it delivers! I was a bit worried at first because it’s an unmanned hotel (you do everything yourself), but the instructions are incredibly clear and detailed. I even have contacts for nearby hospitals and guidance on what to do if I’m sick.
