“Excellent high quality experience in Cairns.”

This Pullman ranks high in the Accor spectrum, and while the rate leans pricey, the value is top‑tier, especially when compared to pricier Esplanade spots that offer less. It’s close to the Marina and Pier, with great restaurants nearby, and right across from Hemingway’s Brewery, a solid eatery and brewpub. The hotel has been around for a while; my wife and I stayed in 1991 when it was an Intercontinental and still relatively new. Some parts look worn and need updating—carpets are faded, bathroom fixtures are broken, and many furnishings look like the original stock from the hotel’s opening. The gym is under‑equipped; you can’t do a full workout with the limited gear, unlike the Pullman at CityCentre Dubai, which boasts an excellent gym. This is a common issue with hotels that advertise a gym but only offer a small room with a few weights and a multi‑station machine.

The room was refreshed daily, but I needed two chairs instead of one.

The phone in our room was not working. We reported it to reception, but unfortunately no repair was arranged. When we followed up again, we were told that someone could come to repair it while we were in the room. We didn’t have time to wait around in our room for a repair. This is something that should have been checked and fixed before the room was made available to guests
