“Gyeongju is a great place to visit!!”
We paid KRW 475,000 for one night at Number 25 Gyeongju City Hall and the accommodation fell far short of expectations: a strong smoke odor, a bed as hard as bricks, and overall very basic facilities. The hotel sits in what looks like a red‑light district, with a lot of noise all night. Breakfast was just plain white bread and a boiled egg, which was disappointing for the price. The only bright spot was the host—she was exceptional, warm, fluent in English, and genuinely recommended great local restaurants, including an amazing Korean barbecue spot. Her service was the highlight of our stay, but it doesn’t compensate for how below‑par the hotel itself is for the cost. We stayed during a public holiday when most other hotels were sold out, which likely affected pricing and availability. If you’re visiting Gyeongju, avoid the City Hall area and instead look for accommodation around the Bomun Tourist Complex, which offers a much better location and atmosphere. Everything except the host was terrible—she was fantastic!
