The location was perfect for the theatre, we had a balcony with lovely sea views, the hotel was very clean and the staff were always willing to help, but finding 24‑hour parking or any parking at all was quite difficult.

Breakfast was not available because the dining room was supposedly undergoing refurbishment, yet there was no sign of any work, so no breakfast or other meals were offered; the staff were pleasant, polite and friendly, but the bar was overpriced— a J2O (equivalent) was £3.40, a double brandy £10; the bed was uncomfortable, we couldn’t have a bath because we couldn’t switch the mixer tap from shower setting, and the room was cold with no heating.

The location was fine, but the poor condition gave it a half‑way house ambience, the bathroom was appalling, there were no modern conveniences like a TV with more than 4 channels, no usable power sockets, and the hotel needs to wake itself up to the fact it’s the new millennium, never mind 2026.

The location and staff were great, but the hotel could use a bit of an upgrade; it was clean and tidy.
