The castle has charm, especially the castle garden, which is a dream. Our stay at Schloss Moosburg, however, was marred by several small unpleasant experiences. We booked four nights through Booking and received the automatically offered discount price at that time. The breakfast reflected this: each day we were explicitly told that we would be served the “kleine Schloss Frühstück.” The reason seems to be the price discount – which we had no influence over when booking. We found this very uncomfortable and felt like a second‑class guest. Already on the first morning, another very unpleasant situation arose. When we were about to leave for our day trip after breakfast and were already in the car, Mr Kastellan stopped us and, in a tone unfamiliar to us, asked if we were leaving and how payment would be handled… In Bavaria we would say he accused us of “Zechprellerei.” After a brief conversation we clarified that we were not leaving that day. The situation was very bizarre and occupied us all day. On the last morning, at breakfast, Mr Kastellan asked if we had slept well and if everything was fine, because he could see a “black cloud” over us. I answered that we had slept well but thought the room could be cleaner. The carpet upon arrival was so dirty that it had lint, crumbs, and hair on the socks. His initial reaction was that he would not do anything. He said he would vacuum the carpet in the future so nothing would remain and that the old house should actually be completely locked up.
