The hotel sits a bit off the main strip, but it’s close to the Ningbo Outlet, which was handy for a quick shopping run. We booked two rooms online and were surprised to get windowless spaces, then had to shell out extra to move to a room with a view, which felt like a poor value for the money.

The price was rock‑bottom and the room was decent enough for a layover, so it got the job done. Unfortunately the staff didn’t speak any English, the room smelled of smoke, and there was no hand soap – the only perk was a comb handed to us at check‑in.

Staff were genuinely friendly and the room was well insulated, so I managed to get a good night’s sleep. The downside was the distance from the city centre and the fact that they only took cash – credit cards weren’t accepted at all.
