Located on picturesque Lidingö island, 8 km from central Stockholm, Ariston Hotell offers free Wi-Fi, parking, and easy access to public transport. The former tram depot-turned-hotel features rooms with 32-inch flat-screen TVs, large beds, refrigerators, seating areas, and work desks. Some rooms include balconies, and guests enjoy discounted gym rates and proximity to Millesgården Art & Sculpture Museum and Hersyholm Bus Stop.

The value for money was unbeatable, with a clean, friendly room that had a bathroom and a large window. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a Hilton, but it’s perfect for anyone looking for a nearby stay for a Stockholm trip who cares about price. Ropstein metro terminal is reachable by bus 204, 211, or 212. From Ropstein, I suggest a boat trip into the city and back on the local SL 80 boat, which can be used free with a 24‑ or 72‑hour ticket—an experience in itself. You can also get off at the Vasa Museum along the way. The only downside was a complicated check‑in.

The place is simple and fresh but the selection is limited, and the housekeeping left a lot to be desired – the bathroom wasn’t clean and there was hair in the sink.

The location was fine for catching the ferry to Finland in the morning, but check‑in was stressful; I was given a number to access a card for the room, which was tense after arriving late. I was promised a breakfast bag but had to make a sandwich myself when the staff arrived, though they did make me a coffee.

The transport links were convenient. It would have been better if the room had a small fridge.
