Located in the heart of La Wantzenau, a charming Alsatian village, Hôtel Restaurant Relais De La Poste features an 18th-century house with half-timbering houses and gastronomic restaurants nearby. The hotel offers comfortable rooms with cosy colours, Wi-Fi access, and a restaurant serving modern Alsatian cuisine. La Wantzenau Golf Course is 2 km away, and Strasbourg's historical centre is accessible by bus or tram from Honeheim Station, a 15-minute drive from Germany.

The location is ideal for a visit to Strasbourg, and a P+R for €4 (including all train rides) is nearby; the train to Strasbourg runs regularly. In La Wantzenau there are a few nice restaurants for an evening meal close to the hotel, but we didn't try the hotel restaurant. Free parking in front of the hotel can be hard to secure when the restaurant is booked, and the breakfast is bland but basic. The rooms are catastrophic—if you get rooms 1‑3 (we had room 3), you’ll be offered a different room. The back entrance/employee entrance is right next to it, and the door bangs all night and evening. The hotel kitchen’s ventilation is directly under the window of room 3, making it unbearably loud. The air‑conditioning in the room (even when off) is noisy, so we couldn’t sleep in room 3 and left early after a sleepless night. The on‑site staff couldn’t really help with a different room or cancellation, though the staff member was friendly. The hotel manager was unreachable on Saturday, only available again on Monday. Thanks to Booking, we got a refund for the second night.

The room is very comfortable, but the price for a single night with simple breakfast is too high—€310.

The hotel gave us a beautiful typical room with a balcony, even though we booked via Booking and were not known, for just one night! The breakfast was impeccable! A lovely house worth recommending, and we didn’t dine on site… the Michelin‑starred restaurant is tempting.

The restaurant we came to deserves its star, and the breakfast was decent, but the rooms were quite dated, the toilet paper roll was on the floor, the balcony was full of cobwebs, and the elevator was frighteningly old and weak.
