The Box House

It wasn’t terrible once they changed my room. Unfortunately, I had to ask for a room change because the cleaning left a lot to be desired—dirty floor, dust everywhere, and the bed was full of red ants. The door was broken. After I requested a change, they moved me to the villas, of course charging the difference, which was double what I’d paid. The place isn’t bad, but the box houses need a full clean and a rebuild. Also, electricity is missing for hours across the whole area, so you can’t charge your phone, the AC won’t work, and the showers don’t work either. Returning from a tour during those hours is not fun at all.

For the price, it’s not exactly easy to get everything you want, and the bungalows need a renovation and better cleaning.

“Not a good place for couple”

The washroom was fine, but the staff’s behavior was bad, there was no hot water, and the AC didn’t cool.

The courtyard is charming and quiet, the rooms are spacious, quiet, and clean. The breakfast provided is still generous, with options like fried rice, fried noodles, fried eggs, and various juices, and staff can deliver it to the room door at your requested time. The hostel is a minute’s walk to the beach, and there are some restaurants and supermarkets nearby. I left my sandals on the stair at the room entrance, and a dog took them, but the staff actively helped look for them and eventually we got them back. The shower was cold, so bathing was inconvenient.

“Niet fijn omdat het niet schoon was”

The staff were friendly and arranged taxis for you when needed, but when I entered my room the entire bed was covered in large black and brown stains, and a big black hair lay on and beside my pillow. Three black hairs were on the nightstand, the floor was unclean, and five long black hairs were near the front door, giving the impression the room had never been swept or the bed washed. It was extremely dirty.
