The only letdown was the lack of breakfast; we were told pastries would be available, and they were, but we expected a full breakfast because it’s marketed as a bed and breakfast. We ended up finding a good breakfast spot downtown Springfield, so it wasn’t a huge issue. The TV needs an upgrade.

The hotel’s historic vibe was a real treat, and the veranda was perfect for our morning coffee, but the stairs were a bit of a hassle.

The mansion is stunningly beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and full of knowledge about its history; even though it sits right in town, it still feels peaceful, and honestly we couldn’t find anything we didn’t like.
