Located in a historic 19th-century spa hotel, Wildbad Rothenburg features a picturesque garden and terrace. The hotel's 20 modern rooms have seating areas, private bathrooms with hairdryers, and no TVs, but offer access to a shared lounge with a TV. The hotel is within a 15-minute walk of restaurants and bars, and 2.5 km from Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber's medieval Old Town and German Christmas Museum.

The location, rooms, and breakfast are fine. There’s no elevator for all floors; only a helpful young man we happened to ask guided us to our rooms after we’d wandered aimlessly with and without an elevator, passing deserted areas and always ending up in front of the kitchen: the receptionist.

The breakfast was decent, and overall the hotel is solid. The property is split into three sections, and our room was in the deepest part, only reachable through the hall or, if that was occupied, via a basement corridor. There’s no elevator, so carrying heavy luggage was a hassle. At breakfast time not everything was ready yet, and the staff weren’t particularly attentive. The building looks worn out and isn’t suitable for older guests.

A stunning historic building with spacious rooms, great breakfast and parking, and a superb, quiet location—just a few steps up to reach the town. The rooms feel a bit dated, and the bathroom could use some updates.
