“Bad”
The only good thing was the lady who greeted me, and otherwise nothing was good. I didn’t feel safe staying here, so I left and went to Hilton Cairo. All other aspects were lacking.

I was looking for a more authentic local vibe, and that’s exactly what I found. The room was spotless and cozy, and the upstairs bar and common area had great energy. I’m especially thankful to May for being such a fantastic host and making everything even better.

This hidden gem feels like stepping back into another era. As soon as you enter the reception, the history is tangible, and the décor reflects the grandeur of cosmopolitan Qasr El Nil at its peak. The rooftop bar is perfect for sipping a chilled Stella beer while listening to the city below, and locals start arriving around 10 p.m. May, the general manager, is incredibly helpful, arranging day tours, transport, restaurant and sightseeing tips, and shopping suggestions. The Odeon Palace has a unique character and a certain je ne sais quoi that made our Cairo trip unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend staying at this wonderfully historic hotel. We enjoyed everything!

Odeon Palace Hotel is a boutique treasure right in downtown Cairo’s heart. Its location alone is remarkable—just steps from bustling shopping lanes, the Egyptian Museum, and the iconic Nile Corniche. What truly distinguishes it is its soul; the interiors instantly transport you to old Cairo. The owners have lovingly preserved the hotel’s character from fifty years ago, giving it the feel of a beautifully lived-in period piece rather than a generic establishment. The rooms are cozy, and the panoramic views of downtown Cairo are breathtaking. The rooftop bar, open 24 hours, is a highlight—spectacular views, great ambiance, and excellent drinks. The staff have been here for years, treating the place like home, and that warmth extends to every guest. You never feel out of place; you simply feel at ease. May, who runs the hotel with her grandmother, went above and beyond. As a solo female traveller, I appreciated how personally she ensured I had the best experience in Cairo, offering thoughtful recommendations, guiding me through the neighbourhood, and even accompanying me to an important conference I wanted to attend. It felt less like a hotel stay and more like being welcomed by a friend in a new city. I’ve never felt this comfortable or safe at any other hotel. For solo female travellers, this place is a haven. Excellent location, outstanding staff, great value, beautiful interiors, and warmth entirely from the people who run it. I’ll definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend Odeon Palace to anyone visiting Cairo.
