The location was lovely as expected. The whole hotel felt old and dated, needing a major makeover. The shower backed up and the hot water never got very warm. When we asked about dinner, they said there were no tables, yet the restaurant was only about 80 % empty.

The location was great, and the basic accommodation was clean. However, there should be more facilities for dog owners; a doggy station with biscuits and water at breakfast would be fitting for a £20‑per‑night rate.

The spot was good for Windermere and exploring the Lake District, a nice quiet area that wasn’t too busy. The hotel felt a bit dated and the way to the room was maze‑like. Some corridors had a dodgy smell, but the room itself was fine. Breakfast was okay, not the best I've had at a hotel. I don’t mind hiring staff from other countries, but I think they shouldn’t speak different languages in front of guests. If I visit again, I’d probably stay in Bowness‑on‑Windermere instead, as it offers more to tourists.

We didn’t like anything because the hotel was closed for refurbishment from 1 November. We didn’t get the room we had booked because the hotel was closed for refurbishment.

We did not use the restaurant during our visit due to the low standards experienced on our first attempt to use ie no menu staff reciting what was available also witnessing a member of staff licking his fingers then processing to get cutlery out a tray and giving it to a customer. The hotel requires a refurb also during a three night stay we had no room service
