“Convenient hostel / hotel near the Göta Kanal”

The host at reception and bar was friendly, the place sits nicely near Göta Kanal, and it’s quiet at night; it’s a hostel, not a five‑star hotel, but you get a private room. The packed breakfast was very nice, the bathroom and showers were fine even though not en‑suite, and the late check‑out at 11:00 hours was convenient – I’ll return. Thanks a lot. Nothing else to add; read the description before you go and you’ll like it.

There was no breakfast, but the sheets were nice and the helpful staff woman was pleasant. It’s a quirky, uncomfortable stay that’s fine for someone who expected it; a historic building from the 1830s while Göta Canal existed. The room door numbers were on the doors but not on the keys, there was no lighting outside the building, no glass in the room, a tiny TV on the ceiling that wasn’t connected, a small toilet with a sink but no storage for all guests, a cramped staircase not suited for “big‑bodied” people, and it was an almost unacceptable place if you’re a tired traveler.

I stayed right by the canal in a nice room with fresh sheets, and the living‑room had a kitchen I could use. The restaurant served good food and the staff were friendly. The breakfast bag was a bit sparse, only a slice of bread.

The location was good and the restaurant was nice. The breakfast was poor – it was handed out in a tote bag the day before, raw eggs, and no milk.
