The owner was nice and very friendly, but the place turned out to be just a room with a shared kitchen, not an apartment as the pictures suggested, which I didn’t like.

I was strongly impressed by the city of Cortona and staying at the Dreosti house turned out to be the best choice; I couldn’t meet the owner Jeroen, but he gave me all the necessary support via WhatsApp, which made a big difference, and he recommended the best restaurants in town with a unique taste—he’s trustworthy! I missed the breakfast he makes himself, but I understand the absence and it was still wonderful; I would definitely come back! I also regret leaving Cortona, an amazing city with distinctive gastronomy!

The location is great in the heart of the old town, but the room’s condition is far from what the photos show: the furniture is old, deteriorating, and unmaintained, while the pictures look luxurious. We booked a room with breakfast, yet we had to pay an extra dozen euros for it. The lady who checked us in was surprised we asked about breakfast, showed us a café, but she didn’t speak English. We went to the café early in the morning, only to find it closed after the season. With the help of an Italian friend, we called to ask where our breakfast was; we were redirected to another café, where we discovered that with the paid breakfast we could get one croissant and a coffee. Don’t be fooled by the breakfast photos on the site! During four nights, someone once dropped by the room to add soap. The room price was at a 4‑star hotel level. Another issue was receiving the invoice for the stay; I had to ask several times for over a week.

The location was excellent and our host Jeroen was so friendly and helpful that he made us feel right at home. Nothing to complain about.
