“Extremely Disappointing Stay That Ruined Our Anniversary”

The air conditioning provided very minimal cooling, even when set to its maximum level. 2. The property is located quite far from the main road. It would be greatly beneficial if the management could provide shuttle or transport services for guests. 3. Additionally, we encountered several unusual and unsettling incidents throughout our stay, leading us to believe that the place is haunted. Due to these distressing occurrences, we had no choice but to cut our stay short and leave early. We only utilized the room for 10 hours, which is significantly less than the full duration of stay allowed under our booking. We were forced to look for alternative accommodation in the middle of the night, in an area that was completely unfamiliar to us. The entire experience was extremely stressful and upsetting, especially since this trip was meant to celebrate my partner and I’s anniversary.

My husband and I flew all the way from Manila to enjoy a brief getaway at Mai Resort Hotel, booking a room on Jan. 23 2026. We were told that a confirmed booking meant a reservation and full payment, but when we received the confirmation that day we couldn’t reach the hotel by the number provided. On Feb. 14 2026, the day we were supposed to check in, we left Manila at 4:30 am because we still needed to register our vehicle license plate, hoping to return later. When we arrived, a front‑desk staff member—referred to as “ate mo”—was very polite at first, but when I mentioned our booking from Jan. 23 via the booking app, she seemed annoyed, claimed that all rooms were fully booked for a wedding event, and abruptly told us there was no way to confirm our reservation. She then turned away without explanation. Later, a male staff member named “kuya mo” was polite but also unhelpful, and the manager, another woman, pressured us to cancel the booking. I was furious because we had spent a lot of money traveling from Manila, and the hotel insisted that the booking was non‑refundable, yet they still tried to force a cancellation. The next day, we planned to check out at 6 am to attend a morning service, but by 7 am the lobby was empty, the gate was locked, and we couldn’t leave. I wish we had known this beforehand.

“Very Remote and Should have Disclosed It”

The staff were very accommodating, but we booked two rooms and the second room’s layout was so cramped that we couldn’t fully open the door. There was no hot water, so we had to shower in the first room instead. The hotel claims to have a restaurant, yet the menu only lists two items and meals are only served at 5 pm because the cook leaves earlier.

The staff were helpful and there were two pools, but the room was tiny and the bar was poorly stocked.
