The rooms were clean and close to town, but there was no bedside lamp. Both rooms’ security gates were problematic and required a trick to open. The bright light outside the room with sheer curtains kept me awake all night. A low‑hanging cable from the garage to the rooms looked like a potential hazard. The swimming pool was an eyesore.

The rooms were clean and Charles was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the air‑con worked well. However, the property didn’t match the description. The pool had been out of use for a long time, and the TVs were not functional. The bathrooms had no free toiletries. The kitchen had very few utensils, and what they had were mostly mismatched—glasses, mugs, bowls. There were no milk sachets for tea (only rooibos, which not everyone likes). My biggest gripe was that I got very little sleep that night. The whole property was heavily lit outside, and the only curtain was not a block‑out curtain, so I kept waking up and eventually got up at 2:30 am because I couldn’t sleep further. A request to turn off the light outside my room wasn’t honored because apparently they’re all on the same automatic switch. The room lacked detail and felt stark.

The location was fine. The bedding was dirty and hadn’t been changed. I took pictures and sent them to the owner, who said she would refund me on 26 July 2026 (I’ll wait). The TV doesn’t work, which is basically the same as not having one, even though online they said there was a TV. The blinds are old and can’t close properly, so you can’t walk from the room to the bathroom naked without someone outside seeing you. The next room’s bathroom is right next to our bed, so when they shower you would swear they are next to me. We woke up at 5 am because the people were busy showering. The bathroom had dead insects, clearly not cleaned properly.

The accommodation was nice and basic in Kroonstad. They offered an extra room for my adult daughter for free.
