The location on Banks Peninsula was perfect—just outside Akaroa, it offered stunning views and quiet surroundings. My sister and I shared the studio apartment, which was comfortable, and we had daily access to the spa pool. We liked being close enough to Akaroa to avoid a long trek, yet far enough to feel miles away from the world when we wanted to. The stars at night while lying in the spa were special. This was our first stop on the holiday and exactly what we needed to switch off from normal life and relax.

Akaroa Coastal Studio was superb. The attention to detail was evident. The room and bed were very comfortable and clean, and the small space was well used. I appreciated the porcelain mugs, good shampoo, local magazines, and glow‑in‑the‑dark flashlights beside the bed. The hot tub was a bonus, and we enjoyed a meal at the picnic table overlooking the view. The home’s location, very close to town, gave us beautiful mountain and sea views. Akaroa is lovely, and the studio added a lot to our experience.

The space was beautiful with an amazing view, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The studio matched the ad and the price felt fair. It was clean and modern, and the hot tub had a great view and was tidy. I found the little rain hats hilarious but useful if it rained, and they were helpful in the sun. It was a bit small, but that was clear from the ad and photos, so it wasn’t a problem for us—though it might be if you need more space or a separate bed. The accommodation is a short drive from Akaroa’s main town, but you’d need a bike or car; there’s no public transit and it’s a bit too far to walk, especially with luggage.
