“I enjoyed staying in this hotel”
The property is one-of-a-kind with superb wooden design, but the room rates feel steep because there aren’t many decent hotels nearby.

Hotel Bohinj is nestled amidst unspoiled nature, 100 meters from Bohinj Lake. The hotel features rooms with mountain views and lake views from the top floor, many with panoramic windows. Alpine-style furniture, hardwood floors, and amenities like safety deposit boxes and minibars are standard. A restaurant serves local, modern cuisine. A garden and entertainment program with workshops and events complement the hotel's ski equipment storage and nearby ski pass service.

Location was fine. The room was overall acceptable. The stay was overall okay. The spa staff were a welcome exception compared to the reception and restaurant staff. In the spa area you felt welcomed. The reception was cool and impersonal: no warm welcome, just a request to show your ID. No guest information: no welcome drink, no explanation of the hotel or an introduction to the facilities. The room didn’t quite meet expectations: the real impression was less impressive than the official photos. No air‑conditioning: the room was warm, with no reasonable way to regulate the temperature. At this price level that’s disappointing. There is a regulation that lets you set a temperature, but when I asked at reception they confirmed it had no function. The hotel’s questionable excuse for the missing air‑conditioning: it cites its closeness to nature, while a clearly visible mobile‑phone mast sits on the roof. Funny: the official hotel photos seem to have carefully removed it. Unreliable room cleaning: sometimes no one came and you had to ask at reception for fresh towels. The spa area was disappointing: for a hotel of this class the wellness area was surprisingly small and offered less than I expected. The breakfast was also lacking: when you stay more than one night it quickly becomes monotonous. The rolls seemed not fresh but re‑baked. I liked the smoked trout and the fresh smoothies. It’s bad that there’s only one coffee machine for all guests, so you have to wait. Like at reception, in the restaurant you also feel like you’re bothering the staff who are busy with other tasks. The price‑performance ratio: overall the stay was okay, but at premium prices I expect a corresponding experience – warm welcome, attentive service and convincing facilities.

The Alpine style of the hotel and the spa were impressive, and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant food was decent but not outstanding; the steak was inedible, the trout was bland, and the room lacked a Nespresso machine, offering only tasteless coffee sachets and milk powder instead.

Everything was stunning, spotless, and the two on‑site restaurants were excellent; breakfast was plentiful. The room was totally clean and great, but there was no bottled water in the room.
