I had a wonderful stay at Cyashitsu Ryokan. The property had a calming atmosphere which was so nice on the last leg of a tiring sightseeing trip. The open air bath was delightful to start or end our day. Staff was incredibly friendly. We personally didn’t love the location. It is good if you want to explore Asakusa a lot but we wanted to spend most time moving around to explore different areas. It’s not super conveniently located to multiple different train lines and is a bit of long walk from the train station. Location is very much dependent on each persons specific needs, I know a lot of people want to be in Asakusa so this may not be an issue. One other thing is we felt like they were missing some conveniences. I understand the point of the ryokan in general is not to be convenient and to be peaceful and enjoy the present moment but things like laundry and irons are sort of unavoidable on a sightseeing trip whether the accommodation provides or not, it would just add value to have them conveniently onsite (I did not need an iron but my husband did and wasn’t able to get one because it seemed there was only one for the entire ryokan and someone else had it at that time). Lastly, I have never stayed in a ryokan before this but i know dinner is traditionally served on the property/included in the stay which I probably would have preferred

The staff were attentive and lovely, but the rooms and facilities didn't live up to the high price. We had stayed in about eight hotels during our Japan trip and had been most excited for this one, yet it turned out to be our least favorite. The cost felt exorbitant and the room failed to meet our expectations. We appreciated the friendly staff and the traditional tearoom vibe, yet the room was cramped, barely enough room for our luggage, and very dark—there was no light switch to find—making packing a real hassle.
