Beautifully arranged with views of the Karkonosze mountains, a charming, rustic décor. Comfortable, clean rooms and a kitchen available at any time. The host is pleasant and helpful. We’ll definitely return soon, and that will be soon. Too short a stay.

I was intrigued by the building’s history, but the host was oddly strange; he greeted me saying he’d received a bad review because there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, even though we had one roll. He seemed to justify this by his background. The place was dirty, and the lack of Wi‑Fi was tolerable only if there was a signal, which there wasn’t because of thick, pre‑WWII walls. The odd news about a missing frog figurine was also a bit off. When I locked my bikes, I heard someone say, “I’ve lived here for 10 years and nothing has disappeared yet.”

The location was the best part, especially since we arrived from Michałowice with bikes to explore the mountains. Unfortunately, the Villa Chatka Puchatka didn’t live up to expectations. Mold was pervasive throughout the building, confirmed by a fire in the bathroom of our room and a fire in the banquet hall where the owner let us keep our bikes. When I asked for a second set of clean towels, he first said none were available, then pulled towels from a dusty child’s cradle. The communal kitchen was another letdown, with heavily worn cookware that had mold and a fridge that constantly failed, leaving spoiled food from previous guests uncleaned. A review from last year mentioned this was not a one‑off issue. After three nights we decided to change accommodation. When I told the owner about all the shortcomings, his pleasant, elderly demeanor turned into a hostile man who blamed us for every inconvenience. He told me we could meet in court, but he wouldn’t refund anything. I was so embarrassed that I reported the issue to Booking, but their staff couldn’t reach an agreement with him, so we received no refund. I strongly advise against staying here if you value clean, comfortable conditions.

I booked based on positive reviews on Booking, but none of those reviews held up, except maybe the location. The place was a mess— I wouldn’t call it a pigsty, but it was that bad. The owner’s “pet‑friendly” policy meant dog hair was everywhere. Rooms hadn’t been cleaned for weeks, and there was no clean spot in the shared kitchen to cook, so we and other guests took dishes and food into our rooms. The fridge had a malfunction that caused it to defrost continuously, so every morning we had to wipe the floor before entering. When I asked the owner to remove rotten food from the fridge, he said it “doesn’t bother him.” We stayed only because I had paid in advance for the whole stay and feared losing money, so we endured until the departure date. The place falls below any standard, so I don’t recommend it. I hope no one else gets as disappointed as we did.

The property is nicely located and serves as a good base for hiking. The beds are comfortable.
