The garden, the living room, the vibe—everything was great, and there were no negatives.

The old Victorian building was wonderful, and I loved the high ceilings; the kitchens were good, it was quiet, and the free laundry was a nice bonus. I stayed in a six‑bed dorm, and although everyone kept different hours, everyone was considerate of the others in the room. The hostel was also well located to explore Wellington, and the number 2 bus drops you off just up the hill from the hostel if you arrived by ferry from the South Island. I will never get used to the no‑host check‑in.
