I stayed at this pub‑turned‑B&B, and it felt genuinely authentic even though the building looks a bit dated. The comfort was spot‑on, especially the shower—by far the best hot‑water experience I had during my two‑week Irish tour. Space was ample, and the proximity to Slieve League was great. The village itself is charming, and the breakfast was delicious. Huge thanks to the ladies running the place; their friendly chats made us feel right at home. Soon a restaurant and live music will add to the charm.

The staff were very pleasant and polite, the bathroom was clean, towels were soft and fluffy, and the bed was very comfortable. Thanks! However, the Facebook page misleads by claiming a high‑quality restaurant with locally sourced dishes, yet the only restaurant listed is #2, which is not open except for breakfast. We chose this lodge hoping to dine there in the evenings without traveling, but that didn’t happen. Safety concerns: fire doors on the top floor were propped open and should stay closed. Plastic glass litter from Saturday night’s drinkers remained on the stairwell outside the bar door on the morning of day one, and on day two it was still there along with a bag of rubbish left outside the room next to ours.

The location is good and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, there was no food available at lunch or in the evening, and the season had already ended in August. It’s a shame because when you book a room with breakfast and only get a continental spread, it’s a real letdown.
