“All in all a good (quirky!) stay notwithstanding a few hiccups.”
Jagat Palace is a stunning heritage building full of antique furniture and oddities; the room décor matched the old‑world vibe and was comfortable, plus a fridge was a nice touch. The food service was quirky—one staff member was asleep on the floor the first day, the buffet was still being set up at 9 am on the second day, and the third day was surprisingly organized—but the food quality was decent. I dined at the restaurant alone one evening and the meal was excellent. The real highlight is the gardens and pool, though the person in charge of pool towels is always asleep, and it’s a bit annoying (yet amusing) to compete with local monkeys for pool access. There’s another staff member who uses a catapult to remove them, but he tends to disappear when it matters most. The electrical system is dated, and the air‑con looks and sounds like a 1960s relic, though it worked fine. I had a few hiccups: no hot water the first night, a leaking bath, Wi‑Fi dropping out, and a broken TV remote, but the staff eventually fixed everything.
