“EXCELLENTE ETAPE ET BON "ONSEN"”
Breakfast and dinner were served by a pleasant person, we had our own hot “onsen” water, and the staff answered all our questions; the hotel could use a fresh coat of paint.

The room had everything we needed plus a small TV, mini fridge, and full bath; the futons were fine and the size was suitable. The lobby featured an outdoor scene with koi fish and a waterfall, which was very enjoyable, and there were vending machines, including a coffee machine, and a small shop selling local items. The onsen was gorgeous, both indoor and outdoor, with beautiful natural elements. The staff were very helpful and the location was great, on Sakura Hot Springs Street during peak blossom season (we didn’t eat at the hotel). The building is old and unrenovated, the elevator had a strong odor, and the rooms were a bit shabby, but everything was clean and smelled fine.

The service was exceptional, the meals were amazing, the room was huge and solo, and the indoor and outdoor hot baths were superb; there were no negatives.

The hotel is clearly underrated on the rating system, it’s quite good; it isn’t new but is clean and well-made. The rooms still have old features (like a wired phone with a rotary dial, an antique safe, etc.), which is very colorful! The sink on the balcony is a highlight, and the street onsen is beautiful. You can order a traditional dinner and breakfast. However, you might not be warned in advance that the drinks offered at dinner are extra.

The onsen and traditional rooms were an amazing experience in a beautiful historic hotel; I wish we’d known how to reserve breakfast during our stay.
