The owners were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The whole family genuinely cared about making our stay perfect, and the place is just a short walk from the station. After dining in the village, they were generous enough to shuttle us to and from the station multiple times. Breakfast could be prepared in the shared kitchen or ordered; we chose the latter and it was fresh, tasty, and generous. What really stood out was the outstanding dinner at the family’s small restaurant in the village, which was the best meal of the trip even after a week at top restaurants in Tokyo, and the fantastic company and interesting conversations with the owner family. Thanks so much! We hope to return someday. All was great.

The property was extremely well maintained and the facilities were great. The owners’ level of service was exceptional, answering questions quickly, being kind and caring, and ensuring our stay was pleasant. They went the extra mile for us, and we are very appreciative of that! The property was a bit far from the station, but walking or taking the bus is not a problem at all.

It’s a traditional house with incredible hospitality. Having stayed at countless hotels and homestays in Japan, this place was one of our favourites (we were a couple with the parents, including a Japanese father, exploring the Nakasendo trail). The hosts are so kind, caring, helpful, and engaged. We sat together with them and other guests in the evening, they provided drinks and snacks, and offered to pick us up and drop us off at the station (it’s not far and a nice walk, but the weather was bad). Our room was quite big with tatami mats, and the beds were extremely comfortable—one of the best sleeps we all had. The toilet and shower area were clean. We could use the kitchen space freely, which was also comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable stay with the kindest and loveliest hosts possible. By the way, they even dried our wet shoes overnight.

This is a small local family business. The hosts gave us a warm welcome even though they were very busy. The accommodation is cosy, impeccably clean, and there are free laundry facilities. Their son spoke very good English and gave us useful travel tips (e.g., the Hotel Onsen 10 minutes down the road is worth it and don’t miss a visit to Atera Gorge), which we followed and enjoyed. We were especially grateful for the hosts’ kind offer to drive us into Kiso Village for dinner. In fact, they checked restaurants for availability, took us there, and picked us up afterward. Incredible hospitality! Nothing to dislike.
