The staff were very friendly, the rooms were large, the beds comfortable, and the breakfast was very good. The outdoor area could use a refresh.

The tauwerk Hotel, located in Wilhelmshaven's Ebkeriege district, offers free WiFi and private parking. Its bright rooms feature modern desks and private bathrooms. A 5-minute drive from the city centre, it's a great base for exploring local attractions. Amenities include a lockable bicycle garage, Smart TVs, and a restaurant serving original Italian wood-fired pizzas, near Wilhelmshaven Aquarium and Deutsches Marinemuseum.

The breakfast was great and the place was very clean. The bathroom was a bit small, and the room faced the street with a lot of noise.

We stayed at this hotel again. For the basics I refer to our review from 10 July 2026. This time the staff were again flawless. Unlike the first visit, we were on the ground floor instead of the roof. The room itself was great. The surprise was the mattress. It had been too hard on the upper floor, but on the ground floor it was superb, so clearly the mattresses differ. It was noticeably fuller this time because of a local concert, and the hotel was fully booked. That caused several issues: the parking situation became tighter even though the lot is really large. We always found a spot, but some guests arrived by motorcycle, and if it had been all cars it would probably have been tight later that night. And the otherwise great breakfast suffered. First, there simply wasn’t enough space in the breakfast room for so many guests, so we and a few other unlucky ones stood around in the morning, unsure where to go. Everything was full. Second, the staff, with that crowd, were simply overwhelmed. Restocking ran into trouble. We don’t want to blame the staff. Things couldn’t be replenished as fast as they were taken. Everyone, including the staff, got in each other’s way, so it wasn’t very pleasant. A nice breakfast was no longer possible. We can’t fault the owners for wanting to make money and fill the hotel when they can. That’s understandable. But it shows that the breakfast room and probably the very large parking lot are a bit tight for a full hotel, and that staff can be overloaded at full capacity. We mean no offense. The girls gave it their all.
