“Foi tudo lindo e maravilhoso , lugar aconchegante,”
The room was super cozy, breakfast was amazing, and the afternoon tea was wonderful. I have nothing to dislike.

The colonial‑style mansion is very well preserved, with uneven wooden floors, crooked walls, stone construction, a collection of old books, and plenty of teas that add to its charm. Reception is a perfect 10; Luiza is very attentive and full of stories. Breakfast is great, the room is comfortable with good beds, and the location is excellent. The lack of dedicated parking might be a drawback, but it’s easy to find a spot on the nearby street.

The location is good. On the second day there was no hot water, too many lights made it hard to sleep, no parking, staff spoke very loudly, and the place needs renovation. The staff were on their phones while you were filling the kettle for hot water…

Casa de Chá is one of those very charming hotels that embodies local culture. Because Ouro Preto is a heritage site, it can’t have modern air‑conditioning or windows, but if you’re staying in a historic, rustic property, everything works out fine. The team is friendly (Luisa attended us very well), breakfast is delicious, and the facilities are clean and pleasant. You can also enjoy free afternoon tea and a night tea before bed. The hotel is well located, and although access is by stairs (well‑warned in advance), some rooms offer a beautiful view of Ouro Preto. The street can be a bit noisy at night with students passing by, chatting, or taking photos of the view, but it didn’t disturb our sleep—just bring earplugs.

When I first stayed at Casa do Chá, Mr. Paulo welcomed us like family members coming home. This time, even though I arrived at the agreed check‑in time of 16h30, no one was on the property. A staff member handled me remotely and insisted I check in over the phone, which felt odd for a “small inn” that isn’t an Airbnb. The person directed me to the room, which was noticeably worse than my previous stay; from afar, it didn’t justify the price paid. I was told there was coffee and cake in the kitchen to serve myself freely. Walking alone, I felt like I was in an abandoned manor, still uncomfortable and watched by security cameras.
