The hotel sits less than 15 minutes on foot from Victoria Memorial and the metro at Rabindra Sadan, and you’ll find good restaurants a similar distance away. The bed, however, was by far the most uncomfortable I’ve had in India for a long time—just a board wrapped in a sheet. The place had been neglected for years, with shabby, worn‑out furnishings from a wobbling table to a torn chair cover, and the dark brown décor didn’t lift the mood.

It’s one flight up, quiet, clean and secure, and you won’t get a city view, but the spot is spot‑on for Victoria Memorial and the planetarium—both within a 15‑minute walk. Nothing to dislike.
