The hotel staff were attentive and prompt; when my Wi‑Fi card failed on arrival I spent a long time sorting it out, but concierge Chloe stepped in right away and solved the issue, leaving me feeling safe and able to enjoy the trip without worry. I’m not dissatisfied, just a tiny regret: before checking in I saw online that you could pick different pillow types, yet the first two nights there was no pillow‑type information on the bedside table and I forgot to ask, so I only got a choice on the third night—next time I’ll be sure to request it at reception if I don’t see it on night one 🤣.

Our experience at Alila Shanghai was excellent and even above expectation regarding room, cleanliness, breakfast and services such as the pool, for instance. There is maybe one little room for improvement although the service level was very good, I guess the level of english was a bit low and we found it a bit difficult to communicate with the staff at the reception. However, everybody was very kind and helpful. We had a lovely stay. Thanks again to all the Alila staff, including the lady of the room service

The ambience was good, but on the first night construction started around midnight, and when I asked the staff they said they hadn’t known about it and could do nothing, which I found unacceptable; the noise kept going until at least 4:00 a.m.

The room was spacious and spotless, and from check‑in onward every staff member showed genuine care, with the concierge service adding a nice touch—big thanks to Gloria for her thoughtful help throughout my stay. The hotel sits in a prime spot in the heart of Jing’an Temple, close to many malls and restaurants; the secret roof bar had a good vibe and service, making a quick drink very convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel.
